8th grade / Statistics / Two variables / Scatter graphs / Line of best fit
Scatter graphs use points to represent values that correlate the relationship between two variables. The scatter graph will indicate the degree to which the two variables are correlated (linked or related). If the variables are correlated, you will be able to draw a line of best fit. The more strongly two variables are correlated, the more closely the points will intersect the line of best fit. We are mainly concerned with linear correlation in this topic - the line of best fit is a straight line.
Drawing lines of best fit involves trying to pass the straight line through as many points as possible, with the remaining points being evenly distritbuted above and below the line.
One of the benefits of being able to draw a line of best fit is that it enables us to predict values for one of the variables that we don't have a data point for.
In this topic you are asked to decide which of the given lines is the best fit for the data points provided. The lines are labelled as A, B and C. We have included a few curved lines too.
With our Duck shoot math game you will be practicing the topic "Line of best fit" from 8th grade / Statistics / Two variables / Two variables. The math in this game consists of 16 questions that ask you to identify which of the lines is closest to being a line of best fit for the data.
DUCK SHOOT is a fun game to learn math where you attempt to knock over all the fairground ducks in each level. In the first level there are only 6 ducks but by level 10 there are 24 fast moving "quackers quacking"...
After each level, win an additional 20 points by correctly answering a math question from your selected topic. There is no timer in this game: take as long as you like to answer the math questions correctly for a best score to get you on the DUCK SHOOT leaderboard.
