In this topic you are asked to look at a series of numbers from the Square numbers series and fill in the missing number.
Square numbers are a sequence of numbers that are the result of multiplying a number by itself. For example, 3 squared is written as 3² and is equal to 3 x 3 = 9. The first few square numbers are 1, 4, 9, 16, 25, and so on.
To understand how these numbers work, imagine a square with sides of length 1. This square would have an area of 1 square unit. If you increase the side length to 2, the square would have an area of 2² or 4 square units. If you increase the side length to 3, the square would have an area of 3² or 9 square units.
In general, the nth square number is found by raising n to the second power. So the formula for the nth square number is: Sn = n².
Square numbers show up in many places in math and science, from calculating the area of a square to understanding the properties of certain types of shapes and patterns.
With our UXO math game you will be practicing the topic "Square numbers" from 5th grade / Pattern / Missing term. The math in this game consists of 16 questions that ask you to identify the missing number in these square number patterns.
UXO is a fun game to learn math where you attempt to knock over all the target objects while avoiding clicking / tapping on the bombs.
After each level, win an additional 50 points by correctly answering a math question from your selected topic. Wrong answers lose you 20 points but you can answer multiple times. Each level lasts 30 seconds: if you haven't cleared all the targets in that time, you lose 50 points. High scores can be added to the UXO leaderboards.
