THE FROG FLIES game to practice
'7 minutes fast' for 3rd grade

What is the correct time if the clock is 7 minutes fast?

So, you have a clock that is running 7 minute fast. That means it is always telling you a time that is 7 minutes later than the real time. Here are the steps to work out the correct time:

Step 1: Read the time on the fast clock. Look at the clock and read the time it's showing. Let's say the fast clock is showing 4:25 PM (twenty-five past four).

Step 2: Understand what it means for a clock to be fast. A clock that is "fast" means it's showing a time that's later than the actual, correct time. In our case, the clock is 7 minutes fast, which means it's showing a time that's 7 minutes later than the real time.

Step 3: Subtract the fast minutes. Now we need to subtract those extra 7 minutes from the time shown on the fast clock to find the correct time. Here's how we do it:

Start with the minutes on the fast clock: 25 minutes.

Subtract the 7 fast minutes: 25 - 7 = 18 minutes.

So the correct time is 4:18 PM or eighteen minutes past four.

This topic asks you to work out the correct time given that each clock is 7 minutes fast. The clocks are 12 hour clocks and the answers are given as words such as "twenty three minutes past five".
