Identifying square numbers
Identifying square numbers involves recognizing numbers that are the result of multiplying a whole number by itself which is called squaring a number. Mathematically, it can be represented as n², where n is an integer.
To identify square numbers, you can follow these steps:
- Start with a given number.
- Take the square root of the number. The square root of a number is the value that, when multiplied by itself, gives the original number. For example, the square root of 25 is 5 because 5 x 5 = 25.
- Check if the square root is an integer. If the square root is an integer, then the given number is a square number. If not, it is not a square number.
- If the square root is an integer, you have identified a square number.
Here's an example: consider the number 36.
- Take the square root of 36. The square root of 36 is 6 because 6 x 6 = 36.

The first 10 square numbers are:

- Rocks fall faster as the game progresses.
- Clear all the rocks to finish the game.
- It is a good idea to hit the small rock first as it gets much harder if you leave it until later.
- This is a timed game and your score is calculated by adding 10 seconds for each wrong answer to your game time.
- If you get one of the 10 best times for the topic you can add your name to the leaderboard for your chosen topic.
