4th grade / Multiply + Divide / Factors / Factor pairs
Factor pairs are numbers that when multiplied together give a specific number. For example, 2 x 3 is a factor pair of 6 because 2 x 3 = 6. The other factor pair of 6 is 1 x 6.
To find the factor pairs of a number, think about all the different pairs of numbers that can be multiplied together to get that number. For example, let's find the factor pairs of 12. What pairs of numbers can be multiplied together to make 12?
So, the factor pairs of 12 are 1 x 12, 2 x 6 and 3 x 4.
Let us work out the factor pairs of 16, of 21 and of 24.
This topic asks you to find all the factor pairs of each given number. The numbers range from 6 up to 100.
