1st grade / Comparing numbers / Halfway between / Halfway between: 20 to 50
To work out what number is halfway between 2 numbers, work out the total between the two numbers and halve it. Now add that number to the smaller of the two numbers to get the answer. For instance, the number halfway between...
20 and 40
... is ...
40 - 20 = 20
20 x ½ = 10
20 + 10 = 30
So the number halfway between 20 and 40 is 30.
What is the number halfway between 25 and 29?
29 - 25 = 4
4 x ½ = 2
25 + 2 = 27
So the number halfway between 25 and 29 is 27.
