7th grade / Number / Percentages / Fractions decimals percent / Percentages to fractions
To convert a percentage to a fraction, follow these steps:
Step 1:
Write the percentage as a fraction with a denominator of 100.
For example, if you have 25%, you can write it as 25/100.
Step 2:
Simplify the fraction by dividing both the numerator and denominator by their greatest common factor (GCF).
In the example above, the GCF of 25 and 100 is 25, so you can simplify the fraction to 1/4 by dividing both the numerator and denominator by 25.
Step 3: Reduce the fraction to its simplest form, if necessary.
In the example above, 1/4 is already in its simplest form, so you don't need to reduce it further.
