This is a timed game. Your final score is equal to the total score minus time taken.
5th grade / Shapes / Properties of 2-D shapes / Identify 2D shapes from properties
Many regular 2D shapes can be characterized in terms of the length and number of sides, number and size of angles and number of lines of symmetry.
For instance, a shape has 2 pairs of equal length sides, 4 equal angles of 90 degrees and 2 lines of symmetry. Given that it has 4 angles of 90° it must be a regular quadrilateral. Knowing that it has 2 pairs of equal length sides we can deduce that it is a rectangle. This is confirmed by the fact that it has 2 lines of symmetry.
Question 4 of this topic describes a shape with 3 sides, 1 right angle and no lines of symmetry. From the 3 sides you know that it is a triangle. The fact that it has both a right angle and no lines of symmetry mean that it has to be a right angle triangle.
In this topic you are given as question a description of a shape in terms of it's sides, angles and lines of symmetry. You have to decide which shape that description applies to. The shapes that are covered include square, rectangle, different types of triangle, rhombus, parallelogram, kite, pentagon, hexagon, etc.
With our Choose or lose math game you will be practicing the topic "Identify 2D shapes from properties" from 5th grade / Shapes / Properties of 2-D shapes. The math in this game consists of 16 questions that ask you to choose the shape to which the given set of properties (sides, angles, lines of symmetry) apply.
Our CHOOSE OR LOSE game is a simple activity to help elementary math learners and will improve the speed at which you can solve problems in the given topic. It does not rely on the learner typing in the answer. Rather, the learner must choose the correct answer from a list of 2, 3 or 4 similar answers.
CHOOSE OR LOSE encourages faster problem-solving for common and vital elementary math topics. CHOOSE OR LOSE is a timed game with a leaderboard for each topic at each of the 4 levels on offer. You can play the game with or without audio and robots.
