4th grade / Fractions / Multiply fractions / Mixed fractions of quantities
Multiplying mixed fractions by integer quantities can be achieved in several different ways. This topic "Mixed fractions of quantities" teaches you how to do so by multiplying the whole number part of the mixed fraction by the integer quantify first, then multiplying the fraction part of the mixed fraction by the quantify, then adding the two parts.
For example,
6 x 2½ = (6 x 2) + (6 x ½)
The second part (multiplying fractions by integer quantities) we have covered separately with our topics "Unit fractions of a quantities" and "Proper fractions of quantities". This topic "Mixed fractions of quantities" requires answers to be provided as the intermediate step in the process prior to adding the 2 terms together.
(6 x 2) + (6 x ½) = 12 + 3
Obviously you can then simplify the answer by adding the 2 terms:
12 + 3 = 15
With our Choose or lose math game you will be practicing the topic "Mixed fractions of quantities" from 4th grade / Fractions / Multiply fractions. The math in this game consists of 16 questions that ask you to use the formal method for multiplying fractions to expand these mixed fractions of quantities.
Our CHOOSE OR LOSE game is a simple activity to help elementary math learners and will improve the speed at which you can solve problems in the given topic. It does not rely on the learner typing in the answer. Rather, the learner must choose the correct answer from a list of 2, 3 or 4 similar answers.
CHOOSE OR LOSE encourages faster problem-solving for common and vital elementary math topics. CHOOSE OR LOSE is a timed game with a leaderboard for each topic at each of the 4 levels on offer. You can play the game with or without audio and robots.
