Game: PONG
Aim: Break the bricks, score points
Method:

Your final score is based on correct answers, bricks broken and time taken.
5th grade / Algebra / Formulae: perimeter / Perimeter of rectangles
To calculate the perimeter of a rectangle, you need to add up the lengths of all four sides. The formula is:
Perimeter = 2(length) + 2(width)
For example, if the rectangle has a length of 10 units and a width of 5 units, the perimeter would be:
Perimeter = 2(10) + 2(5) = 20 + 10 = 30 units
Another example, if the rectangle has a length of 12 metres and a width of 8 metres, the perimeter would be:
Perimeter = 2(12) + 2(8) = 24 + 16 = 40 metres
Use a slow game like 4 in a row to practice this topic first, then when you get into a timed game like Pong, you will have had enough practice to be able to work out the questions really fast!
With our Pong math game you will be practicing the topic "Perimeter of rectangles" from 5th grade / Algebra / Formulae: perimeter. The math in this game consists of 14 questions that ask you to use the formula perimeter P = 2 x (length + width) to calculate the perimeter of rectangles.
In our version of Pong/Breakout, there are 3 types of bricks for you to break: green bricks are worth just 2 points; yellow bricks are worth a whopping 50 points; breaking white bricks, which are worth 10 points, wins you a math question from the topic you have chosen.
You start with 5 lives. If the ball goes below the paddle, you lose a life and 200 points. The game ends when you answer all 10 questions or lose all your lives.
