Convert percentages to decimals
To convert a percentage to a decimal, divide the percentage by 100.
Here are the steps to follow:
Step 1:
Write the percentage as a fraction with a denominator of 100.
For example, if you have 50%, you can write it as 50/100.
Step 2:
Divide the numerator by the denominator to get the decimal equivalent.
In the example above, 50 divided by 100 equals 0.5. So, we can say:
50% = 50/100 = 0.5
If we want to convert 180% to its decimal equivalent, we have:
180% = 180/100 = 1.8
If we want to convert 5% to its decimal equivalent, we have:
5% = 5/100 = 0.05
