Which repeat addition gives the same answer as the multiplication?
Home / 2nd grade / Multiplication / Number facts / Repeat additions
Multiplication is a way of quickly adding together equal groups of numbers or things. For example, if you want to add 3 groups of 5, you could write it as 3 x 5. The x symbol means "times" or "multiply".
To find the total number of objects in 3 groups of 5, you can use the repeat addition method. This means you add the same number (in this case the number 5) a certain number of times (in this case, 3 times).
So, to find the total number of objects in 3 groups of 5, you can add 5 three times:
5 + 5 + 5 = 15
So 3 x 5 is equal to 15.
Another example is 5 x 4, which means 5 groups of 4. To find the total number of objects in 5 groups of 4, you can add 4 five times:
4 + 4 + 4 + 4 + 4 = 20
So 5 x 4 is equal to 20.
