Kindergarten / Comparing numbers / Biggest smallest 1-20 / Biggest number: 1 to 20
In this topic you are asked to look at a group of four numbers and decide wich number is the biggest. There are four numbers in each group, and the numbers can be as big as 20 or as small as 1. In the first question, you have the group of numbers :
11, 2, 13, 4
Start by looking at the number of digits for each number - two of the numbers have 2 digits wheras the other two only have one. We know that a 2 digit number like 12 is bigger than the biggest one digit number which is 9. So, looking for the biggest number we can ignore the two numbers with only one digit.
Comparing the other two numbers, 11 and 13, we can see that the second digit of 13 which is 3 is bigger than the second digit of 11 which is 1. So the biggest number in the group has to be :
13
In another question from the topic you are asked to find the biggest number from the following group of numbers :
16, 18, 17, 6
So we use the same technique as last time and look at the number of digits for each number in that list. You will see that one of them has only one digit, so that cannot be the biggest number in the group.
There are three numbers in the list that start with a 1, so compare their second digit. They are 6, 8 and 7. We know that 8 is bigger than 6 or 7 so the biggest number in the list has to be :
18
