A mixed fraction is a whole number and a proper fraction combined. So, 1½ is a mixed fraction, as are 23½ and -17¾
A mixed fraction like 1½ can be represented as an improper fraction.
To convert a mixed fraction to an improper fraction, multiply the denominator of the fraction part by the integer then add the numberator. Put the product over the denominator of the fraction part.
So the mixed fraction 1½ can be represented by the improper fraction 3/2 since
((2 x 1) + 1) / 2 = 3/2 or 1½.
