Game: FOUR IN A ROW
Aim: To get four symbols in a row
Method:
Choose a square and click on it. Click on the correct answer to the question in the box that appears. If you are right the square is replaced by a tick. Continue until you have won 4 in a row...
6th grade / Algebra / Simplify expressions / Add and subtract / Add like terms
When we talk about "like terms" in algebra, we are referring to terms that have the same variable(s) raised to the same power(s).
For example, 3x and 5x are like terms because they both have the same variable x raised to the same first power. Similarly, 2y² and 7y² are like terms because they both have the variable y raised to the second power. We have a topic about like and unlike terms.
To add like terms, you simply add the coefficients (the numbers in front of the variables) while keeping the variable and its exponent the same.
For example, to add 3x and 5x, you would add the coefficients 3 and 5 to get 8, and then write the result including the variable.
3x + 4x = 8x
Similarly, to add 3a³ and 4a³, you would add the coefficients 3 and 4 to get 7, and then write the result including the variable and the exponent.
3a³ + 4a³ = 7a³
With our Four in a row math game you will be practicing the topic "Add like terms" from 6th grade / Algebra / Simplify expressions / Simplify expressions. The math in this game consists of 16 questions that ask you to simplify expressions by adding algebraic like terms such as a + a or b² + 3b² or 5c³ + 3c³.
The game will reinforce the math you have chosen to learn by getting you to match the question to the correct answer.
