In this topic you are asked to look at a series of numbers from the Fibonacci series and fill in the missing number.
Fibonacci numbers are a sequence of numbers that starts with 0 and 1, and each subsequent number is the sum of the previous two numbers. So the sequence starts 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, and so on.
These numbers are named after an Italian mathematician named Leonardo Fibonacci who discovered them in the 13th century. The Fibonacci sequence is found in nature, in things like the pattern of petals on flowers, the spiral shape of seashells, and the branching of trees.
For example, if you count the petals on a flower, you might find that there are 3, 5, or 8 petals - all Fibonacci numbers! Or if you look at the spiral pattern of a seashell, you'll see that the spirals follow a Fibonacci sequence.
Fibonacci numbers are also used in many areas of mathematics and science, from computer algorithms to understanding the stock market.
With our Four in a row math game you will be practicing the topic "Fibonacci numbers" from 5th grade / Pattern / Missing term. The math in this game consists of 16 questions that ask you to choose the missing number in these fibonacci sequences.
