A unit fraction is a fraction where the numerator is 1 and the denominator is a positive integer. For example, 1/2, 1/3, and 1/4 are all unit fractions.
To identify a unit fraction, you need to look at the numerator of the fraction. If the numerator is 1, then it is a unit fraction.
To calculate unit fractions of a quantity, you divide the quantity by the denominator of the unit fraction.
Example 1: 1/8th of 64
1/8 x 64 = (1 x 64) ÷ 8 = 64/8 = 8
Example 2: 1/6th of 24
1/6 x 24 = (1 x 24) ÷ 6 = 24/6 = 4
