5th grade / Comparing numbers / Using inequality symbols / Choose the correct symbol
Inequality symbols are mathematical symbols used to indicate a comparison of two values or quantities. There are three inequality symbols commonly used in mathematics:
Greater than (>):
The greater than symbol (>), when used between two values, indicates that the value on the left is greater than the value on the right. For example, 6 > 4 means that 6 is greater than 4.
Less than (<):
The less than symbol (<), when used between two values, indicates that the value on the left is less than the value on the right. For example, 3 < 5 means that 3 is less than 5.
Equal to (=):
The equal to symbol (=), when used between two values, indicates that the values are equal. For example, (16-8) = 8 means that 16-8 is equal to (has the same value as) 8.
These symbols are often used in mathematical expressions, equations, and inequalities to represent relationships between values or quantities.
With our Four in a row math game you will be practicing the topic "Choose the correct symbol" from 5th grade / Comparing numbers / Using inequality symbols. The math in this game consists of 16 questions that ask you to pick the symbol that describes the relationship of 2 numbers.
The game will reinforce the math you have chosen to learn by getting you to match the question to the correct answer.
