4th grade / Counting / Interpreting a number / Minutes to seconds
This topic requires you to convert durations given in minutes into durations given in seconds. As you know, there are 60 seconds in a minute so the conversion factor is:
1 minute = 60 seconds
So, to convert from minutes to seconds, multiply the time in minutes by 60. For example, to convert 7 minutes to seconds:
7 minutes = 7 x 60 seconds = 420 seconds
Another example, to convert 4½ minutes to seconds:
4½ minutes = 4.5 x 60 seconds = 270 seconds
