4th grade / Counting / Interpreting a number / Minutes to hours and minutes
This topic teaches you how to convert a given number of minutes into the same amount of time as hours and minutes. For instance, you might have been given a duration of 200 minutes and be asked to convert that into the number of hours and minutes.
So, to convert from minutes to hours and minutes, divide the time in minutes by 60 to get the number of hours. The remainder (if there is a remainder) will be the number of additional minutes. For example, to convert 200 minutes to hours and minutes:
200 minutes = 200 ÷ 60 = 3 hours and 20 minutes
You can see above that when we divide 200 by 60 we get 3 (3 x 60 = 180) with a remainder of 20. Another example: convert 450 minutes to hours and minutes
450 minutes = 450 ÷ 60 = 7 hours 30 minutes
