Game: FOUR IN A ROW
Aim: To get four symbols in a row
Method:
Choose a square and click on it. Click on the correct answer to the question in the box that appears. If you are right the square is replaced by a tick. Continue until you have won 4 in a row...
3rd grade / Shapes / Properties of 2-D shapes / Identify properties of 2-D shapes
Many regular 2D shapes can be characterized in terms of the length and number of sides, number and size of angles and number of lines of symmetry.
For instance, if we look at a rectangle we have a shape that has 2 pairs of equal length sides, 4 equal angles of 90 degrees and 2 lines of symmetry.
A square has 4 equal length sides, 4 equal angles that are 90° degrees and 4 lines of symmetry.
Question 3 of this topic shows an equilateral triangle. So we have a shape with 3 sides, 3 equal angles and 3 lines of symmetry.
A parallelogram has 2 pairs of equal length sides, 2 pairs of equal angles that are not 90° degrees and 0 lines of symmetry.
A rhombus has 4 equal length sides, 4 equal angles that are not 90° degrees and 2 lines of symmetry.
A kite has 2 pairs of equal length sides, 1 pair of equal angles that are not 90° degrees and 1 line of symmetry.
In this topic you are given a shape and have to decide which of the 4 lists of properties applies to it. The shapes that are covered include square, rectangle, different types of triangle, rhombus, parallelogram, kite, pentagon, hexagon, etc.
With our Four in a row math game you will be practicing the topic "Identify properties of 2-D shapes" from 3rd grade / Shapes / Properties of 2-D shapes. The math in this game consists of 24 questions that ask you to choose the correct set of properties for the given 2-dimensional shapes.
The game will reinforce the math you have chosen to learn by getting you to match the question to the correct answer.
