4 IN A ROW game to practice
'Subtract grams from kilograms' for 3rd grade

Subtract masses given in grams from masses in kilograms

To subtract weights given in grams from weights given in kilograms, you first need to convert the kilograms to grams. This is because kilograms and grams are different units of mass, and you cannot directly subtract them without first converting them to the same unit. Here's how to do it:

Convert kilograms to grams: As there are 1,000 grams in a kilogram, you need to multiply the number of kilograms by 1,000 to convert it to grams.

For example, let's say you have 4 kilograms and you want to subtract 350 grams from it. To convert the 4 kilograms to grams, you would multiply by 1,000:

4 kilograms x 1,000 = 4,000 grams

Subtract the given weight in grams from the converted weight in grams:

4,000 grams - 350 grams = 3,650 grams

So, the resulting weight after subtracting 350 grams from 4 kilograms is 3,650 grams.

Another example, subtract 900 grams from 1.3 kilograms.

Converting the kilograms to grams we have 1.3 kg x 1,000 = 1300 g.

Subtracting the 900 grams we have 1,300 g - 900 g = 400 g.

So, the final weight after subtracting 900 grams from 1.3 kilograms is 400 grams.

This topic asks you to subtract a given number of grams from a weight given in kilograms. You do so by first converting the kilograms to grams. Your answers should be in grams.

With our Four in a row math game you will be practicing the topic "Subtract grams from kilograms" from 3rd grade / Measurements / Calculate. The math in this game consists of 16 questions that ask you to subtract masses by converting the given kilograms to grams and then subtracting the weights.

Four in a row is similar to the paper game "Noughts and crosses" but we have changed it into a one-person math learning / revision game. The aim of the game is to win 4 cells in a row from a grid of 16 cells.
