1st grade / Multiplication / Number machine / Multiply then subtract
A number machine is a way of doing 2 or more different sums on a single input number. In this topic you will be multiplying a given number by another number first, then taking the answer from that and subtracting some number from it. This is called a two step calculation. In the first question you are asked to take 3, multiply it by 2, then subtract 2 from the answer. In the second question you are asked to take 2, multiply it by 5, then subtract 3 from the answer.
Start with 3, multiply by 2 then subtract 2
3 x 2 = 6
6 - 2 = 4
So 3 x 2 - 2 = 6
Start with 5, multiply by 3 then subtract 4
Start with 5
5 x 3 = 15
15 - 4 = 11
So 5 x 3 - 4 = 11
With our Four in a row math game you will be practicing the topic "Multiply then subtract" from 1st grade / Multiplication / Number machine. The math in this game consists of 16 questions that ask you to work out the answer when you multiply first and then subtract.
