Method:
Use the catapult to shoot balls at the rows of ducks crossing the screen. Answer questions to win extra points.
Your final score is based on ducks hit or missed and the number of questions answered correctly.
3rd grade / Shapes / Properties of 2-D shapes / How many vertices and sides
Regular named 2D shapes have a set number of sides which is part of their definition. They also have a set number of vertices (corners). In this topic you are asked to identify how many sides and vertices each named shape has (circles and ovals are not thought of as having sides and certainly do not have vertices).
Quadrilaterals: All quadrilaterals have 4 sides - that is how a quadrilateral is defined. The quadrilaterals include the square, rectangle, kite, rhombus and trapezoid. By definition, all quadrilaterals also have 4 vertices.
Triangles: All triangles have 3 sides and 3 vertices.
More than 4 sides: pentagon, hexagon, etc. A pentagon has 5 sides and 5 vertices, a hexagon has 6 and 6, a septagon has 7 and 7 and an octagon has 8 sides and 8 vertices.
So the general rule is that a regular 2-dimensional shape has the same number of vertices as it has sides.
In this topic you are shown a series of diagrams of regular 2D shapes. You must give the number of sides and vertices for each shape.
With our Duck shoot math game you will be practicing the topic "How many vertices and sides" from 3rd grade / Shapes / Properties of 2-D shapes. The math in this game consists of 24 questions that ask you to count the number of vertices (corners) and sides on the given 2-D shapes.
DUCK SHOOT is a fun game to learn math where you attempt to knock over all the fairground ducks in each level. In the first level there are only 6 ducks but by level 10 there are 24 fast moving "quackers quacking"...
After each level, win an additional 20 points by correctly answering a math question from your selected topic. There is no timer in this game: take as long as you like to answer the math questions correctly for a best score to get you on the DUCK SHOOT leaderboard.
