7th grade / Number / Percentages / Fractions decimals percent / Fractions to percentages
To convert a fraction to a percentage, follow these steps:
Step 1:
Convert the fraction to a decimal.
To do this, divide the numerator by the denominator.
For example, if you have the fraction 3/4, divide 3 by 4 to get 0.75.
Step 2:
Multiply the decimal by 100 to get the percentage.
For example, if you have 0.75, multiply it by 100 to get 75.
Step 3: Add the percent symbol (%).
This indicates that you are expressing the number as a percentage. For example, 75% means 75 out of every 100.
So, 3/4 can be converted to it's percentage equivalent 75%.
3/4 = 0.75 = 75%.
Another example. Convert 45/20 to it's percentage equivalent:
45/20 = 2.25 = 225%.
