6th grade / Geometry & measures / Measures of 3D shapes / Volume / Calculate the volume of cuboids
A cuboid is a form of prism which means that it has a fixed cross section throughout it's length. The volume of prisms is calculated by multiplying the area of the cross-section by the length. Since the cross-section of a cuboid is a rectangle, the volume of cylinders can be calculated using the formula:
V = H x W x L
For example, if we have a box with a length of 6 cm, a width of 4 cm and a height of 5 cm, the volume of that box will be:
V = 5 x 4 x 6 = 120 cm³
This topic asks you to calculate the volume of different sized cuboids. The questions give you the 3 required dimensions to calculate volume. The calculations can often be done in your head, but you may sometimes require a calculator (especially if you are playing a game and want fast answers). All answers in this topic are integers.
With our Cat and mouse math game you will be practicing the topic "Calculate the volume of cuboids" from 6th grade / Geometry & measures / Measures of 3D shapes / Measures of 3D shapes. The math in this game consists of 16 questions that ask you to use the standard formula (length x width x height) to calculate the volume of cuboids.
Cat versus mouse game with added balloons for math and fun. You are the ginger cat, and your life is being made a misery by some white mice which have come into the house and are proving hard to catch. Not to mention there is a mouse house party going on and lots of balloons getting in the way of your hunting.
So you have to catch the white mice, forget about the gray mice, hit the blue balloons but avoid the red balloons, and answer math questions (you are a CLEVER cat...). If it sounds complicated and a bit frantic, that's because it is. Do your best but don't worry if you can't catch all the mice - neither can we. It's a cat's life...
